Put Movies On Zune

By Ricky Lim

Putting movies on Zune is not difficult. In fact, using the zune software, it is very straight forward and easy.

The zune software allows you to sync your movies and video files from either itunes or windows media player. By default, when you connect the zune player to a computer, it will automatically synchronize between windows media player. It will then download your movies and videos files in the media library onto the zune player automatically.

The zune software is free to download. However you might want to take note of the specifications. Currently, it only supports Windows XP, home and professional, media editions as well as Windows Vista only. You can check the system requirements at http://www.zune.net

However, I do find the conversion process takes quite long even for small video files. Also, I tried the Zune marketplace where I can directly download the files on my Zune player. Unfortunately, sometimes the synchronization will fail and I will have to try 2 to 3 times before it will download properly. Its most likely a bug and I think they will fix it soon.

Currently, the Zune player can support three video formats namely WMV, MPEG-4 and H.264. Most resolutions and bitrates are allowed since the zune software will automatically convert the videos files to be compatible for playing on the zune player.

If you want to play your DVD movies on zune, you will need a DVD to zune video converter since the zune software does not convert different video formats for you. Im using the Cucusoft DVD to Zune converter and it works well. You can use other software to convert DVD movies to Zune.

If you do not want to do the conversion, there are two options. One is to download from Zune marketplace. It is similar to the itunes store where you pay per download. They also have a subscription service where they provide a certain number of points which is deducted when you download a movie, mp3 or video. There are some bugs with the zune software and the zune marketplace so I would not recommend using it for the time being.

The other option is to purchase a membership at a zune download site. These Zune download sites let you download unlimited numbers of movies, videos and mp3 for a one time charge or on a yearly basis. It is cheaper and I highly recommend it if you are a movie or music junkie.

Monks Make Mac Movies (Magnificently!)

By Swami Tarakananda

Thanks to Apple, complete amateurs can make impressive video productions and share them with friends on DVDs. All that is needed is a digital video camera, a Macintosh computer with a Superdrive (one which will burn DVDs), and the iLife suite of applications which normally come with Macs, and of course, a bit of good taste and discretion. This I know from actual experience, and Ill try to share how it can be done.

In February of 2003, monks from Atma Jyoti Ashram, a small Hindu monastery in Southern California, went on a pilgrimage to India, visiting holy places throughout the country. Being lovers of India, we wished to record outstanding events from out journey so we could share them with friends and relive them ourselves through our videos and photos. We took over twenty hours of video in our two month sojourn, and when we returned, we faced the task of editing the footage to make viewing more manageable.

We had a 1 Ghz iMac and iMovieApples entry level movie editing applicationso we proceeded to hook our Mini-DV camera up to the Mac with a fire-wire cable and import footage using iMovies import feature. There was a lot of footage that was either poorly filmed, too long, or uninteresting in retrospect. That still left lots of film to work with. We began by getting an overview of what was available, and putting together a mental picture of the story we wanted to tell with the video. Then, by placing bits of video in the timeline of clips, the story we wanted to tell began to take shape.

To learn the best way to make a video that did not have the hallmarks of amateurism, a search on Google yielded gobs of tutorials, tips, and techniques for using iMovie, and video editing in general.

When the clips were arranged to our satisfaction in the timeline, we proceeded to add audio and music (using iTunesiMovie is well integrated with this and other iLife applications) to supplement the audio on the clips so as to make for more continuity. Then we added transitions (which iMovie provides in abundance) between clips to give the video a more polished look. Then came the titles, subtitles, and effects, which began to turn what started as a mess of random footage into a cohesive, semi-professional looking (O.K., at least not totally amateurish) bit of video. Then came the agonizing step of taking an objective look at the end results and pruning out footage to make it more succinct, then tweaking features to give it the final finished look.

After creating a few short features of this sort, we then used iDvd to create an accomplished looking DVD. iDvd makes it easy by supplying quite an array of professional looking Themes, or allowing you to modify and edit existing Themes, or create your own. We then imported the final video featurettes into the desired Theme, and proceeded to burn our DVD. Earlier versions of iDvd were a bit buggy in the burning process, but have improved in later releases.

Those wishing more options for video editing and DVD burning can use Apples mid and pro level applications, Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro.

The end result surprised us and those we showed it to. So our pleasant experience has solidified us as Mac addicts, though we needed no convincing as to the usefulness of Apples products.

Save Time & Money Shopping for Electronic Items Online

By Auther Daily

When it's time to find that special gift for a loved one or the birthday boy, do you head out to the shops in the hopes of stumbling across the perfect little electronic gadget? Even if you use the advertising circulars as a guide, that can often lead to a frustrating treasure hunt that burns you out while wasting your time and your money - and sends you home with a gift that's not quite what you wanted in the first place. You'd think there'd be a better way. Well - there is. Whether you're shopping for a cheap computer, an MP3 player, a digital TV or even a DVD movie, the smartest place to shop is sitting right in front of your computer.

It shouldn't come as any surprise that it's easy to find bargains on electronics online. Electronics and cheap computer parts and accessories were among the first merchandise to be sold regularly in online marketplaces and they continue to be the most popular type of items bought at online stores. The popularity of online shopping continues to grow, with total sales reaching into the tens of billions. Why would someone choose to purchase electronic items online rather than going out to the shops? The reasons are simple.

1. Shopping online is convenient. There's no need to stop around to a dozen different merchants to find the best deal on a cheap computer. All you have to do is a simple search. You don't even have to strain your mouse finger to visit a dozen websites anymore. There are some fantastic shopper services that make it easy to find the best price on that cheap computer or MP3 player all in one place.

2. There's no traffic hassles, no crowded shops, no need to fill up the fuel tank on your auto. You can shop the entire world for the best possible price on whatever you want, whether it's a digital TV or a DVD movie right from the ease of your favourite chair.

3. The internet is a very very big place. That means that you're not bound into paying the prices you can find at your local stores. You can find great deals on cheap computer accessories (how about that neon glow in the dark mouse pad?), the best prices on the computer that you want, or the perfect DVD player from every corner of the world.

4. The internet is never out of stock. Looking for that DVD movie you've been dying to see, but the local shop is sold out? You're sure to find it online - and with next day shipping, you can be watching it tomorrow evening instead of waiting two weeks for your local merchant to restock it.

5. You can find the latest models of everything from hard drives to flash drives, from DVD players to digital TVs, from cheap computer parts to completely kitted out superstar gaming computers. Most manufacturers announce their latest releases online first - and you can often order online weeks before the newest game console or digital toy is in the local shops.

When you shop online you can enjoy the convenience of shopping without ever leaving your home, save time, save money - and get the best quality electronic merchandise at the best prices in the world.

Auther Daily (not the Peckham market trader) is the owner of "http://www.howcheapisthat.co.uk". The site was launched to help surfers find the cheapest prices online for cheap computers, DVD movies, MP3 players & Digital TV. Save time & money shopping for electronic items online.

What You Need To Know When You Buy A DVD Player

By Thad Pickering

DVDs are the standard for viewing movies now as VHS tapes are quickly becoming a relic of the electronics world past. And technology continues to improve, making more and more features available on DVD players to keep up with the advancing high definition formats. So when you go hunting for a DVD player, what should you be looking for to make sure that you stay up with the current technology? Here is a list for your consideration:

* These days it just makes sense to get a DVD player that is a progressive scan model. Older players didn't have to be progressive scan because conventional TV sets could not display the images that way. Older sets display every other line at a time on the TV screen, which is called "interlacing". The newer HDTV formats call for displaying all of the lines on the screen at the same time and that is called progressive scan. The difference is that progressive scan makes a smoother picture appearance since the whole screen is being displayed all the time. Since all TV sets of the future will be using progressive scan for their displays, it's a good idea to opt for that feature now.

* If you like to play your own homemade DVDs you need to verify that the player you select can handle that format such as DVD-R, and DVD+R. Check and see whether they can also play DVD+RW discs and DVD-RAM discs if you use those formats.

* Portable DVD players are widely available these days too, but watch the power consumption on these units. Some use quite a bit more power than others. Try to get a model that promises playback of three hours or more.

* Before you buy, it's a good idea to make sure that the connections from your DVD player will match up well with both your TV set and your stereo receiver if you use one in a home theater system.

* If you like to have your DVD player also double as a CD player for music, consider getting a multi-disc unit that will allow you to play several hours of music without your having to change discs on a regular basis.

Today's DVD players are versatile pieces of equipment that perform an essential job in any home entertainment setup, so use the suggestions above to help you make wise choices when you buy a DYD player.

iPod Downloads 11 Tips On Finding The Best Download Site

By Davion Wong

You may have come across many websites that offer free iPod downloads. But beware as there have been stories of copyright infringement when the copyrighted music and other media files are distributed and shared. As a layman, you do not know whether it is legal to download the iPod music, movie or TV show you are searching for. So, avoid such iPod download sites as you may be on the wrong side of the law when you download iPod media files from these sites.

On the other hand, more paid iPod downloads membership sites have been appearing recently. You now have better choices to download iPod music, movies and TV shows legally at much cheaper prices than iTune. However, as an iPod user in the midst of multiple choices, we are once again caught in a dilemma to decide which one is the best for us.

Here, I will share with you some key tips on what to look out for in the iPod download membership benefits.

1. Per iPod Download Vs One Time Fee

Does the site charge for per piece of iPod music, movie or TV series file you download? I find it expensive to download media files at iTune, do you? I mean $1.99 for a music video and $0.99 per song is crazy. Nowadays, for a low one-time lifetime fee, you can download as many songs and music videos as you wish. Make sure you compare the pricing.

2. iPod Music Downloads Variety

What variety and range of music files can you find? To me, it is important that they have genres ranging from popular pop to jazz.

3. Huge Media Library of iPod Music, Movies, TV Shows and Video Files

Does it provide a huge library of media files? Do they have a wide selection of movies, TV shows, music and videos? Do they frequently update their database with new iPod downloads?

4. Ease of Use of Member's Site Interface

Is the member interface easy and user-friendly? Ease of use is very important.

5. Free iPod Downloading and System-compatible Software Provided

Do they provide with free software to help you in downloading those movies, mp3s etc? Are they easy to use? Are these software compatible with PC or MAC or both? Can they be used to download iPod files to older generation iPods or only to the newer models?

6. Fast iPod File Downloading Speeds

How fast is the iPod downloading speed? How long does it take for the files to be transferred?

7. Safe Downloading Process of iPod Media Files?

Do they ensure the iPod downloads to our computers are safe? Is spyware removal included to ensure that nothing goes wrong while downloading the music and movies?

8. Testimonials And Excellent Track Record

Is the company getting complaints or positive testimonials? Read these at iPod forums. Hear their experiences in using these iPod downloads services.

9. Legality of iPod Downloads

Is it legal? These are proper sites which have the right to distribute the iPod media files so you can have a peace of mind that you are not breaking any copyright laws.

10. 24/7 Responsive and Expert Technical Support

Do they provide fast and responsive support? 24/7? Do they have the expertise to trouble-shoot when you encounter difficulties in the iPod downloads? Sad to say, some download sites display this feature as an advertising gimmick only and are unable to deliver the level of service.

11. Secured Payment Processing System and Measures to Safeguard Your Privacy

Is the payment processing secured? Will your personal details be divulged to anyone? Most of these sites have secured payment processing and they make it absolutely certain that your privacy is not compromised.

I hope that these tips will give you a good start in finding your choice iPod Downloads site. In my next article, you will be able to read a review of the top 3 downloads site based on the criterion I have described here.

How To Make A Smart Choice With Our DVD Players Review

By Thad Pickering

The technology for dvd players has been around long enough now that it has matured and most dvd players on the market these days can be considered quality units with solid, useful features. But some are better than others. We decide to review dvd players that are available today and see which ones offer the best value for the buck.

If you read most independent reviews of dvd players these days it becomes apparent that the top manufacturers including Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba and Apex all produce excellent quality equipment that perform consistently well. However one trend becomes apparent though. Many dvd players are sold with DVI(digital visual interface) or HDMI(high-definition multimedia interface) as an alternative to the composite and S-video connections commonly seen on dvd players in the past. The difference is supposed to be that the DVI and HDMI connections are straight digital to digital connections when used with HDTVs, whereas the digital signal is converted to analog for transmission through a S-video and composite video cable and then converted back to digital on HDTVs. This is supposed to provide cleaner video since it avoids the conversions between analog and digital.

However many consumer reviewers report that the difference just isn't all that apparent and may not be worth paying the extra money for the DVI or HDMI connections. So most people can actually do just fine with most conventionally priced dvd players on the market instead.

Here are a few models that have scored well in many dvd player reviews:

1. A very popular and inexpensive dvd player is the Pioneer DV-578A. It is a progressive scan player which has a component video output for improved video performance and a built in Dolby 5.1 surround sound decoder. It also is capable of playing various DVD formats including DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and both CD-R and CD-RW as well. It's a high quality versatile single disc player that would do a great job in any home entertainment setup. Cost - around $100.

2. The JVC XV-N510B is another dvd player in this single disc category that rates very highly on many consumer dvd player reviews. It also can use component video outputs for better video display, supports both Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround sound as well as virtual surround sound for those that have only a two speaker system, and features audio dynamic range control to help limit excessively loud sounds. It also displays practically all DVD disc formats that you could use even including DVD-RAM. Cost - around $120.

When you read a dvd player rating here on the web or elsewhere you often see these two models listed very highly and given excellent reviews. So why pay more for features that don't really offer more value? By choosing models like the ones mentioned above and their counterparts you can get great performance and great value in the same package.

Why Is Everyone Renting DVDs?

By Robert Barnard

Everyones getting into the act - Blockbuster, Amazon, Intelliflix - not to mention the already established markets such as Netflix. What am I talking about? DVD rentals - either from online sources or the brick and mortar businesses in your neighborhood - these rentals rank among the fastest-growing segment of the DVD marketplace. Many times you might even walk into your local convenience store and find DVDs for rent.

Why such an explosion in this market segment? Because the upsides are fast profits and low inventory costs, while the downsides are minimal - mostly non-return of inventory - and merchants can charge their customers for that. Estimates say that the DVD rental market will be worth something in the neighborhood of $24 billion by the end of 2006 - for a relatively inexpensive investment and simple rental system, its no wonder that retailers want a piece of this particular pie.

With such a hot marketplace, prices and incentives change with the speed of light, but heres essentially how it works - you can either sign up as a subscriber or pay on a per-rental basis, meaning you pay for each movie as you rent it. As Im writing this, Intelliflix offers the most competitive subscription plan - for 3-DVDs at a time, you get unlimited monthly rentals, free shipping back and forth, no late fees and you can cancel at any time - for $16.95 a month. By comparison, Blockbuster offers a similar package at $17.99, plus they sweeten the deal by giving you up to 4 coupons you can use in one of their 4500 brick and mortar locations for a free movie rental.

Online DVD rentals have the advantage of saving time for customers, not to mention saving on late fees when you cant quite get back to the rental store within the rental period. The time-saving factor alone is likely responsible for the rapid growth of this market segment - with overbooked schedules in every household a service that offers free shipping both coming and going is a big attraction.

Of course there are also the standard video-rental stores, most often a local business in your neighborhood that has opened a little additional revenue stream to their other operations. The downside of these places are that they typically charge late fees for late returns, with a specific term of rental, such a 3 days or 5 days, plus you have to physically make the trip to pick up and return the movies. Convenience isnt the watchword here, unless you happen to stop in at your local convenience store every day for some refreshments.

The advantage to DVD rentals, of course, is that you get a chance to preview a movie before you decide to buy it. Just as with the old VHS tapes, you can watch a DVD movie youre interested in, and if you like what you see its a simple step to purchase that DVD and add it to your collection.

Another option thats also rapidly expanding in market share are companies that allow you to download movies directly onto your home computer. These companies offer pay-per-view service for rentals, purchases and download-to-burn DVDs for your personal use. Rental prices typically range from $,99 to about $4.99, while purchases usually fall into the $8.99 to $25.99 range, depending on title. Generally speaking, rentals can be stored on your computer for up to 30 days, but must be viewed within 24 hours of initial playing. The advantage to this type of service is that once youve viewed the movie, you can then burn a copy (after youve arranged for the purchase) on your home computer and add it to your collection.

Stadium Seating Offers the Best Seat in the House

By Leslie Halpern

With so many advances in home theater equipment, low-priced movie rental options, and exciting new bonus features included with DVDs, the cineplexes had to do something to keep all those seats occupied so they decided to change all those seats. Now for the feature presentation: Stadium-style seating, where the audience can enjoy movie magic in seats more comfortable and convenient than in most homes.

New and upgraded theaters may include up to 30 screens, electronic ticketing, gourmet concessions, high-tech sound systems, wall-to-wall screens, rocking chairs, high-backed plush seats, lower lumbar support, extra leg room and retractable armrests that fold up for more efficient snuggling.

Over the past few years, stadium seating which features stair-step tiers as opposed to sloped floors has become a popular trend in theater construction and renovation in larger cities across the country. Large theaters with stadium seating often spring up in and around shopping malls, which makes it easier to shop until you drop...into a plush high-backed chair to watch a movie.

This seating allows an improved field of vision because each row is significantly elevated (usually ranging from 12 inches to 18 inches) from the row in front of it, obviating the fear that a big-haired movie-goer will nestle down in front of you during opening credits.

This trend in theater design has several important benefits:

Stair steps ensure clear sight lines to the screen from every seat regardless of height.

Late arrivals can sit anywhere they want without blocking someones view or taking seats where their view is blocked.

Retractable arms are convenient for couples who want to cuddle.

Extra leg room provides more comfort for the tall and the squirmy.

Pregnant women, the elderly, and those with back injuries will appreciate seats with extra lumbar support.

Disabled patrons also have improved sight lines and more room to maneuver wheelchairs.

Stadium seating costs no more than regular seating for patrons because the cost is made up to the theater with longevity and volume.

Yes its wonderful to enjoy the comforts of home with a table full of munchies while youre snuggled up with pillows, blankets, and a just-released date movie on DVD. Or maybe you really want to watch that independent film at the local art house. But for the first-run, special effects big screen blockbusters, theaters with stadium seating will offer you the best seat in the house every time.

iPod Movie Downloads Watch The Latest Movies!

By Davion Wong

iPod movie downloads are now favorites among the many other media files iPod users are downloading to their iPods. iPod technology has advanced so much that the current generation of iPods with 30GB 80 GB storage capacity can do much more than just playing music. It can also store and play videos, movies, TV shows while you are on the move or exercising in the gym. But one burning question is how and where you can find iPod movie downloads, especially the latest movie releases to feed your iPod?

One convenient place where you can buy iPod movie downloads is of course from iTunes store. They have a wide variety of movies such as Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, one of the many latest movie titles. Pay for your download and you are ready to download it onto your PC to sync with your iPod. It probably costs you anything from $9.99 to $14.99 per movie. This is cheaper than going to the cinema theaters or buying a DVD from the local video stalls.

However, considering that there are now many other alternative iPod movie downloads sites that offer a flat rate for access to unlimited online movies, it really makes it much more affordable for teens and young adults who are not financially independent. Do a quick search around and chances are you would find many of such membership sites that offer lifetime memberships for less than $40. This is a price most can afford and there are even cheaper options for one or two year subscriptions available.

The selection of iPod movie downloads can be surprisingly huge at several of the most popular sites. In case you are wondering if you can find the recent movie and TV show releases, check around and probe the sites a little. There have been rave reports from customers that most sites constantly update their movie libraries so that they can find the latest movie titles.

While you might be excited and want to quickly start downloading movies for your iPod, be careful in the selection of your iPod movie downloads sites. It is important that you read their terms and conditions carefully. There are many other things you should look out for as well, such as the downloading speeds, convenience of the interface, customer support and after-sales service, tutorials and instructions, secured environment for downloading, legality of downloads, etc. Several of these download sites are outright scams and have given a bad name to others which have put in much effort to set up an honest and excellent service. Find out from my blog which are the established iPod movie downloads sites that score well in all aspects and have successfully built a huge membership base.

Do You Really Need A Portable DVD Player?

By William Berg

Have you ever been on a long boring bus or train raid just looking out through the window with out anything to do? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to watch your favourite's movies on your way to your destination instead? A portable DVD player allows you do just that. A portable DVD player is a small DVD player with a small screen attached to it allowing you to watch movies where ever you. Now you might be thinking so what, Portable DVD players are nothing new. Thats true but it's only in recent time that they have become inexpensive. Today almost everyone can afford a portable DVD player.

A portable DVD player plays regular DVD discs or "Digital Video Discs". A DVD disc is 4.72 inches (120 mm) in diameter and can store 4.7 GB of data. They work in the same way as CD discs but utilize a shorter wavelength laser and can therefore store a lot more information on a disc than your standard CD.

Most Portable DVD players can read regular CDs as well but is still not suitable to replace your portable CD player. This is due to the fact that even if DVD players can read CDs they are specialised to handle video media and will as such not handle music as well as a unit specialised for musics. This does not need to be a problem and you might very well feel that the sound quality in a portable DVD player is good enough to use it as a CD player. You will however feel differently if you are a "Sound snob". CD players can't play DVD discs since reading a DVD requires more advanced and sophisticated technique than the technique in a CD player.

One my wonder why portable DVD players hasn't been available at low prices for a long time when the technique used is similar to the technique used in CD players and portable CD players have been around forever. The answer is simple. A portable DVD player requires a large amount of miniaturization of technology to make it possible to fit so much into a small container. A portable DVD player does after all not only contain a DVD player but also a flat screen, all of which should fit into something that you can easily hold in one hand.

I mentioned earlier that portable DVD players today have become cheap enough to allow the average Joe to get one but does one actually need one. The simple answer is no. You could just bring a book or a deck of cards along with you on your trips which both would give you something to do on your trip and are considerable cheaper than a portable DVD player. A portable DVD player could however give you a lot of fun and a cheaper model could very well be worth considering since they can bring you some fun even though you don't actually need one. And sometimes one just feels like spoiling oneself with something one don't actually need. I know I do.

Read more information about portable DVD players. An alternative to a portable DVD player can be a DVD player software for your laptop.

Save Money by Renting your DVDs Online

By Ashley Watson

As a movie lover myself I discovered that the best way to rent DVD movies and games in this day and age of the modern computer is by using one of the Online DVD and Game Rental Services. If you love watching movies or playing video games you should seriously consider one of these rental services as a time savings convenience and value.

The two largest DVD Online Rental companies which are very well known by their 3 Million plus members is NetFlix and Blockbutster. Both services are very similar, however, NetFlix seems to be top dog as of this writing.

Some of the great benefits of Online DVD Rental includes:

- 40,000 + movie titles

- New releases

- No late fees

- Free shipping, both to you and the return shipping

- Affordable monthly plans

- No long term contracts

- Cancel membership anytime

I am confident that you will find either of these services a great resource for your own DVD and Gaming needs.

Both DVD rental services, NetFlix and Blockbuter, have done a wonderful job of keeping their service simple and easy to use. By providing your basic information and then adding your favorite movies to a list or queue you can begin receiving movies right to your mailbox postage free. It's just so crazy simple!

One of the best advantages to renting your DVDs online is direct delivery to your door. Not only do you receive free shipping, you'll also get fast delivery of your DVD movies and game rentals. I always receive movies in 1-2 days and return shipping via a pre-paid envelope back to the company is delivered in a timely manner as well. This makes the DVD turnaround time very quick and your more than likely to always have a DVD movie on hand.

You may keep each DVD or Game as long as you like. Remember, there are no late fees so you are free to watch movies at your leisure. No need to feel rushed in watching your movie because the DVD does not have a required due date for return. This one feature alone is money in the bank from saved late fees. I don't know about you, but our family has paid many late fees over the years for movies that were not watched by the 1, 2 or 3 day return due date. We actually paid more in late fees than we did for the movie!

No more late fees for us! We do all of our DVD movie rental online now. It not only saves us the hassle and time from running back and forth to the nearest DVD rental store, we love the anticipation of our next DVD in the mailbox! --It's almost like Christmas...

Online DVD rental is definitely the superior choice for renting DVD movies. As long as the DVD Rental services continue to keep the process simple and easy I see Online DVD Rental as the wave of the future.
